Ponderings from PapaBear

I see that there are already many great blogs posted on last nights BCS Title Game and another recap is not needed. However, I have a few final thoughts on this game and the Buckeye season. First, congratulations to Les Miles and his LSU Tigers. They were the dominate team on both sides of the ball for the final three quarters of this game and are deserving Champions. For the past month I was slowly able to convince myself that the Buckeyes had a shot at a victory in this game. In order for them to pull off the upset they would of had to play the perfect game. Their overall team effort was certainly better than the one the they put forth in last years game against Flordia, but perfect they were not. Turnovers and really stupid penalties kept this game from being close and the final result was much the same as last year...A sizeable loss.

News Analysis: Bush's State Of The Union Focused On Past Achievements

At some point, you realize you're coming to the end of your time in office, and you've got to start making a determination what your legacy is going to be," said Rep. Michael N. Castle (R-Delaware). "And some of the broader, sweeping things you wanted to do at the beginning simply aren't going to be achieved."

For a president who has always favored boldness, it amounts to a dramatic shift. Just a year ago, Bush in the same chamber defied the new Democratic majority with his decision to send more troops to Iraq and challenged lawmakers to overhaul the immigration system. The past year demonstrated that Congress could not force him to change course in Iraq, but neither could he bend it to his will in the domestic arena.

So last night, Bush focused on extending or cementing past initiatives, such as pumping $30 billion more into his anti-AIDS projects in Africa, reauthorizing his No Child Left Behind education program, extending $2 billion in aid to other countries developing clean-energy technology and codifying his policies that steer more federal funds to religious charities.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Chingy Gets Mad! Is Lauryn Broke? Where is Wendy ...

All my Delaware, Philly and South Jersey people, I have the low down on where Wendy Williams and Charlamange went! From what I heard, there is a lot of corporate and business wrangling over Wendy in the city of Brotherly Love on Power 99 FM. I don't have specifics, but they are looking to return to Philly's airwaves asap. The only thing is, it might not be on Power 99. You know, where Wendy goes, the people go. I am pleased to announced that according to what I know, Wendy and C are going to be landing in Los Angeles later this month. That's what Beyonce calls a good look better yet a hood look.

LAURYN BROKE?

Damn, damn, damn! Laurun is possibly broke? Yes, says sources at Fox News

Sources say Hill was living in the Caribbean for a while as the mother of four children by Rohan Marley, son of the late Bob Marley.

Wild Card/Vacation Day 11 of 12

Only two more shopping days until I return to the final days of the City Council campaigns. Then, we'll have fun taking apart the campaigns. Any dirt yet? Any mudslinging. You know, the good stuff. Or is everyone behaving? My wife is now looking over my shoulder -- literally -- so I have to pretend that I'm just checking ball scores. See ya in two days. Here's Wild Card ...

Extra! UIdaho Student Found Shot to Death

A 21-year-old University of Idaho senior was found shot to death early today in his Moscow apartment.
David Robert Boss, a history major and Boise native, was found dead by a roommate about 2 a.m., Moscow police officials said. Boss roommate apparently arrived at the apartment at 1218 S. Main St. about 2 a.m. and found the victim on the floor in the kitchen area of the apartment, according to a press release. The roommate called police. The death is being investigated as suspicious, said Moscow Police Department Assistant Chief David Duke. The apparent cause of death is a single gunshot wound to the head. No gun was found in the apartment, Duke said.

School sets a healthy example

I wore one of my new outfits on Tuesday morning and felt fantastic when my producer Katherine Quinn said she thought I had lost weight and was looking good.

I had noticed a difference myself, but wasn’t sure if that was wishful thinking, so it was brilliant to find that other people had observed that the pounds are slowly but surely disappearing.

We had a real hoot doing an item on men's underwear and how much support they give to our boys.

This was all because Jeremy Paxman had declared that he was unhappy with his Marks & Spencer undies.

We had four lovely male models demonstrating a bit more than we bargained for.

If it were two men cackling at women in their scanties there would have been trouble, but along with Shauna Lowry I got away with it.
